Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about On Cue and location-based music

How does On Cue know when to change my music?

On Cue uses GPS technology to track your location during workouts. When you reach pre-set GPS coordinates along your route, the app automatically switches to the next song or playlist. You can customize how close you need to be to trigger a music change (5-30 meters).

Do I need to keep the app open while working out?

No! On Cue runs in the background, so you can use other apps, lock your phone, or even put it in your pocket. The app will continue to change your music based on your location without any manual intervention, so long as you give us the necessary permissions.

Can I use my existing Apple Music playlists?

Absolutely! On Cue integrates seamlessly with Apple Music. You can use your existing playlists or create new ones specifically for your workout routes. The app can shuffle through your selected music as you move through your workout.

Is my workout data private?

Yes, 100% private! On Cue stores all your workout data locally on your device. We never see your routes, workout history, or personal information. Your privacy is our top priority.

What if I want to change songs manually during a workout?

You're always in control! While On Cue automatically changes music based on location, you can still manually skip songs, pause music, or adjust volume using your phone's media controls or the app's interface.

Does On Cue Music Player work with Spotify?

On Cue Music Player is built exclusively for Apple Music on iOS. This lets us deliver native-grade playback that streams from your existing library with no extra login, no separate catalog, and no third-party SDK in the playback path.

Does it work with Strava?

Strava integration is on the Q2 2026 roadmap. When it ships, you will be able to import any Strava activity as a Workout Route in On Cue Music Player and pin songs along the imported polyline. Today, you build routes directly in the app.

Do I need an Apple Music subscription?

Yes. On Cue Music Player streams songs from your Apple Music library, so an active Apple Music subscription is required for search and playback to work. The app itself is free to download, but it will not be functional without Apple Music.

Will you build an Android version?

On Cue Music Player is iOS-only for now. An Android version would require a streaming service whose SDK we can ship at our current scale. We are tracking the space but have no release date to share.
